1/28/23 Update From Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene

We’re almost a month into the Republican-led 118th Congress, and I could not be more excited for the things we have in store for the nation. Speaker McCarthy has already kept his promise to remove Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell from their assignments on the House Intelligence Committee and Ilhan Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee (watch my statement on Ilhan Omar here). This is only a small dose of how we plan to hold those in the federal government accountable - something the current Administration refuses to do.

I can’t wait to get to work on my Committee assignments. The Chattanooga Times Free Press wrote a great article on a few of my priorities in the new Congress.

Also, check out my interview with Rome News-Tribune on my plans for what's to come in the 118th Congress.

This week, the House considered H.R. 21, the Strategic Production Response Act. I am a proud cosponsor of this bill that limits the ability to tap into our petroleum reserve until the Department of Energy creates a plan to designate more federal land for oil and gas production.

The Biden Administration has sold out the American people with its reckless use of our oil reserves. Our reserves are meant to be used for our nation in times of emergency, not to be sold to enemy nations like China. I introduced and passed two amendments to the bill that will hold the Administration accountable for its actions.

Amendment #147, passed by the House, prohibits President Biden from selling portions of our Strategic Petroleum Reserve to China for political gain. Read my Amendment here, and watch my speech below.

Amendment #146, also passed by the House, forces President Biden to refill our Strategic Petroleum Reserve to the level it was on his first day in office. Read my Amendment here, and watch my speech below.

I’m always happy to go on Tucker to talk about the issues facing my great state of Georgia. With the riots happening in Atlanta this week, I found it fitting to announce my plans to introduce legislation to declare Antifa a domestic terrorist organization. It is far past time to uncover who is funding the riots destroying American cities. Watch my interview below.

Remembering Leaders of GA-14

Our community has suffered tragic losses in the last several weeks. A long-time federal judge and a devoted Georgia Department of Transportation worker both lost their lives.

This week, I took to the House Floor to present legislation that would name the federal courthouse in Rome after Judge Harold Murphy. Watch my Floor speech below.

Rep. MTG delivers a speech on the House Floor to name Rome's federal courthouse after Judge Harold Murphy

Judge Murphy was a dedicated public servant who served as a Federal judge for 45 years. He was a kind and fair judge with a great sense of humor, and his presence in the community will be missed. Read more about Judge Murphy here.

The loss of Judge Murphy is not the only loss faced by our community in recent weeks. Sean Kornacki was tirelessly working to clean up storm damage in Walker County when he lost his life while on the job.

Sean served his community selflessly. There are no words to express the heartbreak that Sean’s friends and family surely feel, but we know that he will never be forgotten.
