Chairwoman Greene Demands Transparency on USAGM Corruption, Biden Administration’s Rehiring of Fired Officials

For years, USAGM engaged in rampant cronyism, issuing corrupt contracts to friends and family through the Open Technology Fund (OTF), while senior officials bypassed security protocols, mishandled sensitive information, and obstructed investigations. A whistleblower exposed the misconduct, prompting a third-party investigation by the law firm McGuire-Woods, which confirmed the agency’s widespread dysfunction and abuse of power. Under President Trump, these findings led to accountability measures, including the termination of multiple USAGM officials in 2020. However, the Biden Administration quietly reinstated many of these same individuals, allowing them to resume their previous activities with zero consequences.
